Texas Trends in Art Education:

Guidelines

Texas Trends in Art Education is the annual professional publication of the Texas Art Education Association. Articles in the journal are written by and for art educators. Elementary, intermediate, secondary, and university art educators, as well as all others who teach in the arts are invited to submit articles that pertain to practical or theoretical aspects of teaching visual arts. Articles involving timely subject matter (e.g., art and technology, distance learning, meaningful connections between art and other content areas, teaching diverse audiences, and art assessment) will be given first priority for publication.

Manuscripts for Trends are now being accepted for blind review for the Spring 2000 issue. Articles must conform to the guidelines specified in The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. Do not include your name on the actual manuscript. Identify your article with a footer that includes the title or a portion of the title and page number. Manuscripts must be typed and should be double-spaced.

Black and white photos may also be submitted with manuscripts. Photos should be labeled with the title of the manuscript. If any individuals within the photos are identifiable, it is the responsibility of the author to obtain a signed photographic release form from the individual or, in the case of minors, from the minor's parent or legal guardian. A sample photographic release form is available from the associate editors.

How to Submit a Manuscript for Review

The editor and associate editors of Trends request that manuscripts be submitted in one of three ways:

  • E-mail
Cut and paste your manuscript into e-mail. Attachments are difficult and sometimes impossible to open. Submit e-mail submissions to any one of the three editors.
  • Diskette
Clearly mark your diskette with the title of your manuscript and the type of program in which it is written. Submit diskettes to any one of the three editors.
  • Hardcopy
Include a cover sheet with your name and title of your manuscript. Submit hardcopy manuscripts of any one of the three editors at the mailing addresses or fax numbers found at the end of this article.

If you wish to have your manuscript returned, please include a stamped, self-addressed envelope. Utmost care will given to all manuscripts and materials submitted, but TAEA and the editors assume no responsibilities in the events of damage or loss to manuscripts or photographs. The editors reserve the right to make editorial changes in all manuscripts prior to printing. Only manuscripts that follow APA guidelines and are pertinent to current art education topics will be considered.

For questions about submissions of manuscripts, suggestions for topics, or clarification of information, please contact the editor or associate editors. Deadline for submission of manuscripts is December 1, 1999.
