The Marcus Fellows program provides students with:

  • A thorough knowledge of the philosophy of a comprehensive visual arts education.
  • The ability to create exemplary curriculum materials in both electronic and print formats which can be used in art museum/school collaborations.
  • An understanding of opportunities provided by technology in the development and delivery of instructional materials, staff development, and advocacy efforts.
  • The ability to organize consortia of school districts, universities, museums, and other arts agencies to work together to provide comprehensive programs in visual arts education.
  • The leadership skills to organize and conduct meaningful staff development in comprehensive visual arts education for school administrators, art specialists, teachers, classroom teachers, and museum staff and volunteers.
  • The necessary skills to carry out districtwide implementation of a comprehensive visual arts education.
  • The advocacy skills needed to initiate and sustain comprehensive programs in visual arts education which utilize technology.
