INTERACTIVE CURRICULUM |
|
|
In 2002, curriculum designers at the North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts (NTIEVA) began to experiment with creating interactive instructional materials. In the spring of 2006 the Institute was invited to become a participant in the Edward and Betty Marcus Digital Education Project for Texas Art Museums. This project is focused on using Pachyderm, an open-source computer software, to create educational materials. The project is managed by the New Media Consortium, an international group of nearly 250 learning-focused organizations dedicated to the exploration and use of new media and new technologies. In 2007-2008 the Institute staff created six interactive Pachyderm presentations, three for teachers and three for students. The units focus on early Texas art – work that was produced by artists who lived and/or worked in Texas from 1820 until forty (40) years from the present date. In 2008-2009, an additional curriculum resource was developed based upon an unrealized WPA Post Office Mural Project. Examples of the early experiments and the completed curriculum projects and resources can be viewed by clicking on the following links. |
