Currently a full professor of art at Ball State University, Jha doesn’t think of herself as an Indian artist. She thinks of herself as an American, and her work is the medium through which she expresses her cultural identity. She is inspired by stories that her India-born parents told about datura flowers after seeing moon flowers in their daughter's Muncie Indiana garden.

While at P.R.I.N.T. Press, Sarojini Jha created two colorful lithographs using images from stories, resulting in Bitter Moon and Mango Crow. The piece features several Indian themes including a silhouette of the Hindu deity Shiva and datura flowers.

She is included in many regional and national collections with recent purchase prizes from Purdue and Parkside Small Prints Exhibition and participated in The South Asian Diaspora in the Arts: A Moderated Discussion at the University of Georgia.
