Born and raised in California, lives in Kauai, Hawaii, Sally French comes to terms with life and contemporary issues through art using vivid colors, cartoon like imagery and stark honesty.
As a woman who sees a world obsessed with money, youth, pop culture and violence, French is not timid about speaking her mind. French is a provocative artist doesn't hold back. Many of her images are deceptively cheerful with bright colors and child-like images. However a second examination will reveal blunt and shocking truths about our culture's vanity, consumerism and materialism.
Primarily a painter, French uses comic animation as her main mode of expression.
By executing a highly textured canvases, the artists creates multiple layers that convey her ideas concerning age and other perils of modern society.
