Polyester Plates
October 11
By Master Lithographer Veronica Ceci |
 |
This one day workshop is designed to give participants an introduction to Polyester Plate lithography. These plates do not require the traditional etching and processing of lithography, making them a less-toxic approach. Students can draw directly on the plates with a ball-point pen or Sharpie and go straight to printing with excellent results. These plates may be printed on both lithography and etching presses, making them especially versatile. The medium of lithography is ideal for artists who enjoy drawing.
Veronica Ceci is currently a Master Lithographer and Education Coordinator with Flatbed Press in Austin, TX. Her art has been featured at the A.I.R. gallery in New York's Chelsea Arts District and on the cover of Be Which magazine. Her work is represented by El Sl Studios in San Antonio, TX and The Monster Gallery in Brooklyn, NY. |

Monotypes
February 27-28
By Professor Richard Ash |
 |
“Trace and Stencil Monoprints” The tracing part relies on drawing on paper which has been laid on as slab of rolled out ink and transferring the result to print paper on an etching press. The result changes depending on what kind of paper you draw on and what you draw with. This can be combined with stencils of Polyester or mylar to which ink has be applied, and printed with or in conjunction with the Trace image. The process can be combined with other applications to make unique prints.
Richard Ash is Professor of Art Harvey School of Visual Arts, Midwestern State Univeristy in Wichita Falls, TX. He was named Professor Emeritus 2007.

Color Woodcuts
May 1-2
By Professor Nancy Palmeri |
 |
This course will introduce students to single block color reduction woodcuts, with a focus on content and technique. Students will learn expressive carving techniques (with traditional and nontraditional tools), printing and inking applications. Special consideration will be given to the successful use of color applications (transparency, opacity, value and intensity) and simplified (working with one block) chiaroscuro printing techniques. The idea here is for students to recontextualize the history of this early printmaking technique in order to reflect their contemporary images.
Palmeri's prints are in various collections worldwide including the Fogg Art Museum at Harvard, Museo de Artes Contemporaneas Plaza of Bolivia, University of Colorado's Boulder Special Collection, The Royal Museum of Fine Art of Antwerp, and The Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery of Lincoln Nebraska. |
